The sad story of Puffer fish Pete and Terrence the Turtle

Puffer fish Pete liked all things sweet, milk chocolate candies the best. Terrance the turtle, the cunning con man, knew of his knack for a snack. “This is knowledge, and knowledge is power” said Terrance the turtle, bright as a flower. So Terrence ran to Pete’s house as fast as his turtle legs could. And to fool the lover of candy, he kept a sack of mud handy.
“Here, have a bite my good friend Pete. Only 10 pounds apiece”. Unable to pass up such a proposition, Pete bought the sack, full of ambition. By the time Pete realized that the candy was fake, Terrance was at the bakery, buying a cake. Pete soon ran to the baker, hoping to expose the heartless faker.
“I bought some candy in a sack, and now I want my money back”
“I am sorry, there are many candies and not many buyers, thus the price has dropped since I made my offer. Currently, since the price has gone down, the most I can give you is maybe a pound”
“But the candies did not fit my needs; I must have a refund to buy replacement candies”
“I am sorry that customer satisfaction is not at its best, for the candies were repulsive. But I cannot give you a discount just because you are candy compulsive”

And so there sat Puffer fish Pete, utterly stunned, weeping for his long lost candy refund.


(that last ones secretely about the housing market. well not completely. and its more of a story than a poem. or maybe its a story poem. like beowulf, except less epic)

two more poems, both about magic shoes:

Bobby the bunny liked to jog. In fact, running was his job. He would race against others around the county, and hope to bring home a mighty big bounty. Terrence the turtle, at it again, hoped to con this jogging man. So Terrence found his most raggedy shoes, and set up shop next to a store that sold news. Knowing that Bobby would stop by for the paper, Terrence was certain it was the best spot for his caper.
Bobby came by, just as Terrence expected, and the bunny soon noticed the shoes so neglected. “Terrence, I noticed you have two shoes on your person. They seem quite worn, as if their state could not worsen. So why do you wear these shoes so forlorn, when you can get new ones, ones not so worn?”
“Ah, Bobby, you do not understand! These are not normal shoes on which I stand. A powerful magic lies deep within. One that makes it so I always win! Whether it be the lottery, a board game, or even a run! When I am wearing these shoes I always have fun. But my dear fellow, I have had enough fun to suffice. Would you like to buy these shoes for a very small price?”
“I would rather not pay for such despicable shoes. And your miraculous claims hint at a ruse.”
“Oh, trust me my friend I am telling the truth. To lie of such things would just be uncouth.”
“Then what is the price of these magical shoes?”
“An offer one simply cannot refuse. Eight-hundred pounds is the price of the shoes.”
“And yet I refuse.”
“You’re making a mistake! This isn’t a ruse! Four-hundred pounds for the magical shoes. I lowered the price, just for you.”
“I guess if they do what you claim they can do, the price doesn’t matter. I’ll buy the shoes.”

And so Bobby bought the magical shoes. Err due to a price one couldn’t refuse. The shoes were not magical or special at all. They were just raggedy shoes as you may recall. The lesson learned from this heartfelt fable, is one shouldn’t buy just because one is able. The price does not matter if the product is bad. So buyer beware, or buyer be sad.






There once was a kid who dreamed of being a basketball player.
So he bought some magic shoes to make his play better.
Soon this kid was the best of all athletes.
He was the kind that couldn’t be beat.
Then one day he lost his magical shoes.
And now he’s the kind that does nothing but lose
